Nature

Plants, trees, fruit, flowers, leaves and grasses interest me as vital, and paintable, elements in a landscape.
I enjoy focusing on details that make up a particular setting, and attempt to capture the scene almost as a still life, with beams of light enhancing the varied colors of the object at hand, or the intricate striations of the bark on trees, especially (but not exclusively) Russian Olive and Juniper.
Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature -- the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.
