Yellowstone National Park is one of the world's great treasures, mingling pine-covered forests with geysers and steaming, mineral-colored hotpots, a combination that is utterly unique on the planet.
This series of paintings attempts to capture a small part of the essence of Yellowstone (minus the bison, grizzly bear, elk, beaver and wolves; I leave the rendering of animals to others more adept at the task.) This is just the beginning of this series; others will be added as they are completed.
There can be nothing in the world more beautiful than the Yosemite, the groves of the giant sequoias and redwoods, the Canyon of the Colorado, the Canyon of the Yellowstone, the Three Tetons; and our people should see to it that they are preserved for their children and their children's children forever, with their majestic beauty all unmarred.
